"Introduction to Second Peter"

 Like First Peter, this letter was written to the churches in Asia Minor

·      Fire burned much of the city of Rome, (some say that Nero himself was responsible)

·      Nero blamed Christians and had them hunted and punished, some were imprisoned, and some were murdered

·      Peter himself was thrown into prison and eventually executed upside down on a cross

·      Second Peter became the last message from the Apostle Peter, written from prison

·      There was still something that was of major concern for Peter, False Teachers in the church

·      These false teachers taught immoral living, denying that Christ was coming to judge sin

·      He is reminding the churches in Asia Minor about the salvation through faith that they had received

·      This letter seems to be Peter’s last Will and Testament
